Before the Under 18s match, the Under 18s Premiership flag from 2009 was unfurled. Last year's coach, Leigh Brain, and last year's captain Scott Easey were on hand to do the honours.
But the Bombers didn't have everything their own way on the field, and faced stiff resistance from a determined Balmain side and led by just 6 points at quarter time. But late in the second term the Bombers got on top and lead by 21 points at the long break.
The Bombers found their groove in the third term, running through 4 goals to 1; and held a 43-point lead at three quarter time. And with the run of play, the Bombers continued to pepper the goals in the last term. Although bad kicking prevented the score from totally blowing out, it was a strong performance around the ground and the defenders put up a great performance to hold the Dockers scoreless in the final quarter.
Final Score - North Shore 12.20 (92) def Balmain 3.5 (23).
It was a low scoring start to our First Division side's clash against Manly, with neither side managing a goal until the 12 minute mark. Only five goals were scored for the quarter, but with the Bombers taking 3 of them the quarter time lead was 8 points. The second quarter started with Manly on top before the Bombers fought back. The latter stages of the quarter was goal for goal, with scores tied up at half time.
The Wolves had the better of a low-scoring third term, a tight afair in which there were only four scoring shots. At the last change, the Wolves led by 7 points. The last quarter saw the Wolves, with the fresh legs, run out the game better with a 5 goals to 1 quarter to win by 31 points.
Final Score - Manly 13.8 (86) def North Shore 8.7 (55).
From the moment Ryan Meldrum, captaining North Shore for the first time, scored the opening goal in the opening minute, North Shore were dominant in the opening quarter against Balmain, racing to a 43-point lead at the first change. And it was one-way traffic in the second term, Kieran Emery up forward being a focal point with 7 first half goals as the Bombers raced to a 97 point lead at the long break.
With the game already safe, the sting went out of the contest in the third term as the Bombers put the cue back in the rack. The Bombers kicked 3 goals to 2 for the quarter, and at the last change led by 107 points. The final quarter was largely going through the motions, with the Bombers taking out a 108 point victory.
Final Score - North Shore 21.23 (149) def Balmain 6.5 (41).
