CDHBU seniors got off to a great start on the weekend with a heart stopping 5 point win against Rand-Walbundrie Tigers at Rand.
With the side reviling 11 new players from the last game last season, the side got off to a good start with new assistance coach Richard Leahy dominating up forward to kick three first quarter goals to see the Power leading by 15 points at quarter time.
The players didn't adapt to kicking into the breeze in the second quarter as the Tigers took total control of the game to kick six straight goals to Powers one point to take a 20 point lead at half time.
The third quarter saw the Power dominated the play but couldn't get the score on the board as they kicked 2.4 to 2 points for the quarter to be trailing by 6 points with the Tigers having the wind in the last quarter.
All the players lifted in the last quarter with recruit Phil Dudley kicking 3 goals & second gamer Aaron Ray, providing plenty of pace in the forward line, also kicking a goal as the Power got up by 5 points.
Doug Lavis won Sam's Mug with a great game in the centre, he was well supported by Murray Leahy, who played well as rover, & Jayme Hicks, who had a great game at centre half forward, with both taking out the club incentive awards. While Steven Talbot played a great game in defence to take out the Daysdale Hotel meal award while Richard Leahy also took out an award.
