CDHBU season came to an end when they went down by 36 points to Culcairn at Culcairn.
The first quarter was the same situation as all season with the Power having plenty of the ball but couldn’t put on any scoreboard pressure. Shannon Broadbent was winning his share of the ball, while Andrew Ollington and Matthew Howard were strong in defence as Culcairn led 2.3.15 to 0.2.2 at quarter time.
The Power dominated the first 10 minutes of the second quarter but just couldn’t get the score on the board. It then all fell apart, as Culcairn slammed on 5 goals in the 10 minutes at the end of the quarter to lead 8.6.54 to 2.4.16 at half time.
The Power continued to try hard, with Nathan McClelland & Andrew Phibbs giving their all, but the Power just couldn’t hit the scoreboard as Culcairn led 10.7.67 to 3.6.24 at the last change.
Ollington moved forward for the last quarter and was able to slot 3 goals and with Broadbent, Nathan Rhodes and Howard winning plenty of ball the Power was able to outscore Culcairn for the quarter. But Culcairn were too good as they ran out 13.8.86 to 7.8.50 winners
Goals – Andrew Ollington 3, Tim Cooper 2, Jak Payne, Shannon Broadbent.
Best – Shannon Broadbent, Matthew Howard, Andrew Phibbs, Andrew Ollington, Nathan McClelland, Nathan Rhodes.
CDHBU Reserves travelled to Culcairn to take on the lower placed Lions.
The Power struggled with a number of withdraws with up to 8 players not available and having no bench. The first quarter saw Culcairn kick 4.1 to the Power only managing 2 points. The 2nd quarter Culcairn kick 3.4 to the Powers 1.1.
On ballers in BradLewis, David Garcia, Jakob Hanrahan, Michael Linklater and James Webb dominating in the ruck and all tried hard for the Power throughout the day on a very ordinary ground.
The 2nd half seen the Power continued to try hard with Mitchell Clifton and Geoff Harvie also battled well all day for best on ground performance and his last appearance for the Power.
I would like to thank all the players this season, as at times it has been difficult with numbers but never the less the reserves team never gave up and were proud to wear the Power jumper as was I as the coach. Thank you very much too all the boys for this year. Paddy Minogue.

The 4th were going to have a battle on their hands as they didn't have any permit players available, a couple of weekly players were away and then a couple of boys decided that they didn't want to turn up for the game but the boys still took to the ground with pride for their jumper.
They were 2 players short on the ground and with no players on the bench, the boys tried their hardest in very wet and muddy conditions and gave their all for the whole game without a chance to rest.
We were a few goals down at half time but the boys rallied together and got in front for a short time. However, their tired legs got the better of them and they were defeated by 1 point, 4.4.28 to 4.3.27.
Next Saturday sees us take on Holbrook in an elimination final at Walbundrie. The game will start at the earlier time of 8.45am and it is going to be a huge test for the boys but Bushy and Josh have complete confidence in their team and believe that finals are a different ball game so anything could happen.
Training will be at Coreen on Thursday night at 5pm so all senior players and supporters are urged to come out and support the kids.
