The Power played their worst quarter of football for the season which cost them any chance of victory, as they went down by 37 points against Lockhart at Coreen.
The Power started slowly with Lockhart kicking the first goal of the game, but goals to Andrew Phibbs and Jak Payne had the Power back in the game. Matthew Howard and Shannon Broadbent were finding the ball in the midfield, but Lockhart kicked the last two goals of the quarter as they took a 7-point lead into quarter time 3.4.22 to 2.3.15.
No much can be said about the second quarter. The Power hardly touched the ball as Lockhart kicked 6 goals 3 and the Power didn’t score as the game was taken out of reach from the Power as Lockhart led by 46 points at half time, 9.7.61 to 2.3.15.
After a spray from the coaches at half time, the Power improved their performance in the second half with Andrew Ollington and Tim Cooper playing well in defence. Broadbent continued to find the football while Payne presented well at half forward as the Power outscored Lockhart 4.7 to 3.4 in the second half. But it was too late as Lockhart ran out easier winners 12.11.83 to 6.10.46.

Our Under 14’s boys put in a fantastic effort against Lockhart on the weekend. It was very pleasing to see the hard work at training is paying off and that we are improving every week. Thanks to the Corowa permits for helping us out and congratulations to Benji Hanrahan on kicking his first ever goal! Some other great games where from Rory Batten, Tom Collier and Mathew Bush. Everyone one of the boys deserved an award but these five were our best players for the day:
Patty Lavis- Sportspower
Lachie Raggot- Ricky D’s
Charlie Norman- Canteen voucher
Benji Hanrahan- Coaches Award
Jay Lavis- Guy Street Store
