CLASSY utility Lindsay Seymour will coach Hume Football League newcomer United Power this season.
Seymour, who won Rand-Walbundrie's best and fairest this year, came to terms with the club on Monday night and steps into the shoes of Jarrod Hanrahan, who led the club to two flags in his four seasons at the helm.
The long-kicking Seymour said yesterday he felt the time was right to embark on a coaching career.
"I will probably have a few more grey hairs by the end of the season, but I'm looking forward to it," he said.
"I have been an assistant-coach at Rand-Walbundrie and Rutherglen for the past two years and thought this was a pretty good opportunity.
"The club has only just come into the league and it's an exciting time for everyone."
Seymour, 29, has won best and fairests with Rand-Walbundrie, Wodonga Saints and Corowa-Rutherglen's reserves and will provide the Power with another midfielder to complement Hanrahan, Mark House and Shayne Mathews,
Rover Damien Mollison (Perth) is the only confirmed departure from last year's premiership team.
United Power president Paul Phibbs said Seymour had impressed during the interview and believed he was the right person to continue the work of Hanrahan.
"`Chalky' did a great job as coach and we're happy to have Lindsay come aboard and lead the way in the Hume league," Phibbs said.
"He comes across well and has a bit of experience in the competition already."
Phibbs said Brett St John will coach the club's reserves.
Henty is the only Hume league coach yet to announce its senior coach for next season following the appointments of Matt Klemke (Culcairn), Graham Hart (Osborne), Robbie Murray (Jindera), Marc Almond (Howlong), Dale Smith (Rand-Walbundrie), Leigh McGlynn (Walla), Manny Edmunds (Holbrook), Nathan McPherson and Michael Glanvill (Lockhart), Glen Eddy (BB Saints), Mick Thorneycroft (Murray Magpies), Danny Kirchen (Billabong Crows), Shaun Brooker (Coleambally) and Tim Watson (Rennie).
