The Power have kept their finals hopes alive with a 23 point victory over fellow finals contender Rand Walbundrie Walla Giants at Coreen.
The Power was on fire from the first bounce with a great tap by John Webb to Shannon Broadbent who found Liam McDonell with a goal in the first 40 seconds. And with Kade Rowe finding plenty of the ball and being able to hit the scoreboard the Power was able to kick five goals for the quarter to lead at the first break 5.2.32 to 2.3.15.
The second quarter saw the Power play some of their best football for the season. Cody Howard used his pace to great advantage, Callum Bulter & John Webb showed the way on the ball and up forward while Kane Mills & Mick Collins held the defence together as the Power again kicked 5 goals to take a 39 point lead into half time, 10.4.64 to 3.7.25.
The Giants hit back straight after half time with three quick goals in the first six minutes to get the margin back to 21 points. But the Power held tight and two goals to Ryan Mills and a great snap by Liam Butler got the margin back out to 40 points. But two late goals to the Giants trailing by 27 points at the last change 13.6.84 to 8.9.57.
A quick goal by Broadbent inside the first 25 seconds got the Power the perfect start, Jason O’Rourke was playing well in defence but the Giants kept coming getting to within 17 points before McDonell second steadied the Power. Giants replied quickly but Rowe’s fourth for the day sealed the win as the Power ran out 16.7.103 to 11.14.80 winners.

The Reserves again got close but just can’t find the win as they went down by 21 points to the Giants. The Power started slowly with the Giants taking 18 point lead into the first break. The Power hit back with a couple of early goals before the Giants played some really good football to kick 6 quick goals to lead by 38 points at half time. The Power never gave up and outscored the Giants six goals to three after the main break but the lead was too big as the Giants won, 12.7.79 to 9.4.58.

The Thirds went down to a much bigger Giants side. The Giants gave the Power some players to help out the contest and the third quarter was very even. Sean Fischer & Dougal Robb gave there all, while Ben Kuschert & Travis McKenzie improvement could be seen. The team continues to fight well against the odds, well done boys.
