The Coreen League premiers will take on Farrer League counterparts, Northern Jets, in a highly-anticipated bout at Narrandera Sportsground.
Seymour, who has taken up the coaching reins during the off-season, yesterday said CDHBU was desperate to overcome Northern Jets.
"We definitely have a point to prove this week," Seymour said.
"All the guys are pretty keen to show everyone that the Coreen League was a good competition.
"Also Culcairn (Hume League premiers) are playing after us and we want to show them we can play football as well."
In a tumultuous off-season the Coreen League was disbanded and four of its former clubs - including CDHBU - have joined the Hume League.
Many pundits have been quick to write-off the chances of the Coreen League clubs claiming they will struggle against the more powerful Hume League rivals.
Seymour, who played in the Hume League with Rand-Walbundrie last year, believes CDHBU will be a serious force.
"CDHBU has won the past two premierships and ws in the grand final the year before that as well," Seymour said.
"There is a lot of history at the club and there are some high expectations at the club for this year as well.
"We are definitely aiming for a position in the top-six to start with and hopefully even higher than that."
The Charity Shield clash against Northen Jets takes on extra importance with CDHBU set to begin its Hume League campaign the following week agaisnt Rennie.
"We have had a pretty good pre-season and we want to head into the season on a good note after the Charity Chield," Seymour said.
"We won't be at full-strength this week and we don't know a lot about Northern Jets but we will still be looking to win the game.
The game will start at 6.30pm and will be followed by Riverina Football League premiers Wagga Tigers agaisnt Hume League champions Culcairn at 8.30pm.
