It’s the first A Grade premiership since 1993 and coach Catherine said her girls would be celebrating the triumphant win in style.
“We started really well which is normally what Brock Burrum do so it was nice to have the upper hand this game,” Wood said.
“We played 50 minutes of absolute brilliant netball and had a few brain fades in the last ten so I was so happy to hear the final siren and so was everyone else.
“I really don’t think my heart could have handled much more, we were just so happy that we won.”
After leading by 12 goals late in the third quarter, CDHBU withstood some anxious moments in the final minutes to complete a fairy-tale season for the club.
CDHBU set up the victory with a strong start from defenders Jaz Hall and Kate Aylward who performed outstanding under intense finals pressure.
Youngster Emily Boyle started on court and had the hard task of shutting down the B-B WA who took out the Preliminary finals Best on Court - a job she did very well.
At half time the Power made a change and brought on Tam Lavis to work hard on shutting down the opposition drive into the shooters and she was able to get a few intercepts and put plenty of pressure on her player.
The Power attack end was working hard to stick to the game plan and drive nice and hard and deliver the ball precisely in to Rosie Dye who was under pressure from some tight defence.
Rosie had a fantastic game, shooting very well and pulling in everything that was thrown her way.
Brooke Wilson combined well with Rosie and fed her perfectly with some spectacular jump passes which made for fantastic viewing.
Grace Kingston was on the B-B radar and was forced to work hard all game.
Her drive through the mid court and into the goalies was instrumental.
In a game that saw CDHBU playing some of the best netball they have played all season without two of their key players, everything seemed to be going to plan.
The Power were up by 12 goals and it all seemed very easy.
The reality of a probable win saw some very nervous play which allowed B-B to close the gap to 5 at the final whistle.
Coach Wood said on behalf of her team she would like to say a huge thank you to the wonderful supporters who came and cheered and to the wonderful people on the bench.
Thanks also to Carmel Kingston Team Manager who made sure all the names were right and checked in for changes at each break.
“Emily Bush our first aid provider and Courtney McDonald who was our coach for the day due to her injury from the major semi and the bench players Tess Wilson who was very unlucky to not get on, Bec Barber and Julie Lavis - thank you for being awesome,” she said.
“Congratulations girls, I know the amount of effort I have put in to make each training different and push you all to get the best out of you and to be the best team all year.
“I am very proud of the way you have all played each and every game and I am enormously happy with being able to finish the premiers.”
