An undermanned Power Seniors side was thrashed by top of the ladder Osborne at Coreen. With 4 players doubling up the Power was under pressure early as Osborne ran in plenty of numbers to take a 35 point lead into quarter time. Robbie Dye was playing well in the ruck and Sean Hanrahan was trying hard down back but Osborne was able to extend the lead to 61 points to half time. It was hard work for the Power in the second half, Tom Moloney continued his good form and Jarrod Hanrahan gave his all after returning from injury but Osborne just demolished the Power running out big 27.19 to 4.2 winners.
The Reserves put up a great effort to go down by 49 points to third placed Osborne. Coach Clint Renner did a great job in find a side to run out on the ground and the players didn’t let him down with John Webb providing a good target up forward and with Denis Tomlinson superb all game the Power trailed by 15 points at the first change. Osborne took control in the second quarter to take a 38 point lead into half time. Renner along with Ian Bock and Mark Tilders fought hard in the last half and with Kristian Cargill and Nick Hogan winning plenty of the ball the was able to win the last quarter as they went down 14.9 to 7.2.
The Thirds have kept their finals hopes alive with a 28 point win over fellow finals contender Osborne. The boys started quickly and with John Webb providing a great target up forward and with Jim Johnston strong across half back the Power went into quarter time with a 19 point lead. Bill Hansen and Hayden Brockley were play great and along with Nathan Allen the Power was able to hold their 19 point lead at half time. Osborne got within 12 points by three quarter but with Jack Wynne, Jarrod Ballhause and Madden Lohse standing up the Power kicked 4 goals to 2 to run out 11.8 to 7.4 winners.
The Fourths went down by 22 points in their game against the ladder leader Osborne. In fogging conditions it was hard work for the players with Kane Mills winning plenty of the ball and Nick Kershaw playing well as Osborne took a 7 point lead into quarter time. Osborne took the game away from the Power in the second quarter as it took a 20 point lead into half time. The boys fought well in the second half with Matt Walker providing a great target up forward with 3 goals. Matt Baker, Jim Hanrahan and Andrew Phibbs won plenty of contests for the Power and with Stephen Cardwell also playing well the Power only lost the send half by 2 points to go down 6.5 to 3.1.
Power A Grade had a great start against Osborne this week, opening up a 8 goal lead in the first quarter. Power had settled into a very good and patient game from the first whistle and soon had the game in their control. Power defenders, Sally Smith and Grace Hanrahan were constantly denying Osborne scoring opportunities, allowing Osborne to score only 10 goals for the first half. Tam Lavis (WD) stepped up from B grade and had a brilliant game, taking plenty of intercepts. Karina Collins and Brooke Schilg combined beautifully in attack and set up a number of great plays to the goalies. Tess Wilson and Julie Lavis causing Osborne’s defenders all sorts of problems with their strong play. Power went into the second half with a 19 goal lead and was looking to close out the match, Osborne fought back at Power in the third quarter but Power maintained their pressure and cruised to a 27 goal victory with the final score being Power 52 to Osborne 25.
In B grade Power set a cracking pace in the first quarter, outscoring Osborne by 8 goals. Power’s defensive pressure was brilliant and resulted in a number of turn overs. Hollie O'Donoghue, GD/WD, had a great game and was getting her hands on the ball at every opportunity while Lou Clohessy,WA, was outstanding and skillfully directed play in attack. Lauren Harders, GA, was very good and was finding plenty of space in the goal circle. Power had a 20 goal lead heading into the final stanza and looked to be well in control, but their play faded a little with rushed passes that Osborne capitalised on. Power slowed their play and went on to win by 18 goals with the final score being Power 55 to Osborne 37.
C Grade finals hope took a dive after it went down to Osborne by 2 goals in their game. Meg Clohessy had a great game and along with Heather Mills kept the Power in the contest. Hayley Scott continued her consistent season while Rachel Hanrahan came up from Intermediates and played well but unfortunately the girls went down 27 to 29.
C Reserve kept their season alive with 24 goal win over Osborne. Evie Barbour was superb for the Power and along with Ally Hayes and Shania Walker the Power increased their lead at each break. Lauren Playford was also lively for the Power as the girls registered a 47 to 23 win.
In the Inters the Power had a poor start to the game and found themselves down by 9 goals at the first change. Power regrouped and came out firing in the second quarter, piling on 12 goals to Osborne’s 5. Taylor Dickinson was brilliant in defence and took countless turn overs. Brooke Wilson's,GA, speed was awesome and she had her opponent reeling just trying to keep up with her. Hannah McDonald was very good in goals and shot beautifully. Power was down 2 goals at half time, but they had the ascendancy. Power stepped up the pace and went on to win by 7 goals with the final score being Power 37 to Osborne 30.
The Juniors scored their third win for the season with a thrilling one goal win over Osborne. Chelsea Ferwerda continued her great form and along with Grace Martin enable the young Power girls to hold onto a great win scoring 18 goals to Osborne’s 17..
The Mods improvement continued against a much bigger side. The girls netball skills were great and are starting to become a good team and with Chloe Gilcrist, Ellen Lavis and Jadeyn Renner playing well the girls went down 5 to 15 in a brave effort.

Purple Day
The club held a successful day Purple Day last Saturday for the Andrew Bush Memorial Day. The day raised over $3000 for Epilepsy Awareness.
