The Under 14’s are through to the Preliminary Final after a big win against Howlong by 56 points. The first quarter saw the Power dominated the play with Jacob Kingston, Jesse O’Donoghue and Corey Walton winning plenty of the ball, but the Power was unable to put the score on the board. Howlong was able to go forward and kick the first goal of the game before two late chances were missed by the Power as they trailed at quarter time 1.1 to 0.2. In the second quarter the midfield of Jack Wynne, Jay O’Donoghue and Jacob Boyle was in total control as the Power blasted home 4 goals to take a 23 point lead into half time, 4.6 to 1.1. The third quarter saw the Power consolidate their lead through ruckman Hayden Brockley, Jack Schlig, Andrew Phibbs and Kane Mills as the Power took a 37 point lead to the last change leading 6.8 to 1.1. It was more of the same in the last quarter as Jordan Lavis finish a great game at fullforward with his 5th goal and Jordan Renner showed his class in front of goal with another as the Power ran out 10.9.69 to 2.1.13 winners. It was a great effort by the backline lead by John Webb and Lachie Darby to hold Howlong to such a low score. In a real even team performance Jack Wynne was named the Best Player on the Ground by the league. This sees the Power take on Henty next Saturday morning with a chance of taking on Osborne in the Grand Final.

The Junior netballers are through to the Grand Final after they defeated Walla by 13 goals in their semi final. It was a tight opening quarter with both sides going goal for goal with shooters Claire Wilson and Brooke Wilson playing well in the windy conditions as the Power led at the first break 9 to 8. The game continued to by tight with Grace Kingston and Amelia Walton playing well in the mid court for the Power as they held their one goal lead to lead at half time 15 to 14. In the third quarter the Power started to get on top with Alicia Leahy and Elise Norman playing well in mid court as the Power took a 4 goal lead into the last quarter leading 23 to 19. It was all the Power in the last quarter with the defence of Sarah Chandler and Lucy Bartlett on fire allowing only 2 goals as the Power ran out 34 to 21 winners and a place in the grand final.
The Intermediates will need their second chance after they went down by 9 goals in their second semi against Jindera. The Power made a bright start with defenders with Sophie and Erica Hanrahan starting well along with shooter Hannah McDonald as the Power lead 8 to 5 at quarter time. Caroline Svarc, Beth Chester and Tess Wilson continued to play well for the Power as they took a 1 goal lead into half time, 15 to 14. In the third quarter the Power shooters struggled with the wind as Jindera started to get on top as they lead 25 to 20 at the last change. Rachel Hanrahan was moved into the centre and continued to play well and Chelsea Brindley came on but the Power couldn’t bridge the gap as they went down 35 to 26. This sees the Power play next week and a win is needed to take on Jindera again in the Grand Final.
The C Reserve’s are into the Preliminary Final after a thrilling 1 goal victory against Walla. The Power girls were quickly out of the blocks and build a 3 goal lead by quarter time. The second quarter saw Walla take over and even got their lead out to 3 goals before the Power fought back before half time to only trail by a goal at the long break. The third quarter stayed a thrilling affair with the Power supporters in full voice supporting the team on with the scores even heading into the last quarter. Again it was goal for goal right until the final siren, were the Power held a one goal lead winning 30 to 29. Jenna Lane and Casey Webb were superb in defence for the Power defending well and collecting rebounds, while in attack Emily Bush and Paige Rhodes did well against a very physical defence. In mid court Lana Rhodes, Evie Barbour and Kristy Trickle ran all game to help the Power to the thrilling victory. Casey Webb was named Best on Court by the league in the game. It’s been a great effort by the girls who had only won 2 games in their first 8 games, but since then they have only lost the one game. Let’s hope they can continue their good form this week against Jindera.
