CDHBU notched their third straight win with a hard fought 20 point victory against Henty at Coreen. The boys were first on the scoreboard with the help of a 50 metre penalty that enable Luke Melville to kick the first goal. But after that Henty were able to take control to take a 4.3 to 2.1 lead at quarter time. In the second quarter the boys started to get on top with Steve Talbot playing a great game down back in his 100th game, Brayden Kingston providing plenty of run on the wing that enabled Richard Leahy to finish off the hard work up forward as the Power only trailed by 1 point at half time 7.3 to 6.8. In the third quarter the Power boy's totally dominated the quarter, with Talbot still providing great rebound, Jayme Hicks continuing his great start to the season by pulling in plenty of marks and Leahy still providing a great target up forward. But the boys let themselves down in the last 2 minutes as Henty kicked two quick goals to only trail by 14 points at the last change 10.11 to 9.3. The last quarter was a real arm wrestle with ball going from end to end as the boys were able to hold on to win by 20 points 12.14 (86) to 10.6 (66). Steve Talbot was named best on ground in his 100th, he was well supported by Richard Leahy who kicked 6 goals. Jayme Hicks & Murray Leahy continued their great starts to the season to be good players, while Brayden Kingston played his best game for the club. Brad Talbot played another good game in defence while Aaron Phibbs showed plenty of grit taking on the ruck duties for the day.
It was a good day for the lower grades with the Reserves, Thirds & Fourths all posting good wins.
