The Power registered their second win for the season with a hard fought 12 point victory over last season grand finalist Henty at Henty.
With 6 players unavailable, the club’s depth was tested and it was also a chance to debut 2 new players in 15 year old Cameron Wilson and Jakob Hanrahan in the clash.
The Power started slowing and allowed Henty to kick 4 goals for the quarter with the Power struggling to score for themselves to be 23 points down at quarter time 4.1 to 0.2. Both debutants played well when given their chance late in the quarter.
Coach Payne asked for a big lift and follow the effort of the debtants. Kade Rowe and Nathan Rhodes provided the spark needed at the start of the second quarter. And with Cody Milne playing a great rebounding role off half back, and Michael Collins dominated at centre half back Henty found it hard to score. Matthew Ross was having a good day in the ruck as Power played their best quarter of football for the season as they slammed on 7 goals 5. Tyson Burdon was everywhere in the forward line and booted 2 goals while Payne provided a target kicking 3 goals for the quarter as the Power led 7.7 to 6.3 at half time.
The Power continued the good form into the third quarter with youngsters Andrew Phibbs and Cam Wilson showing the way as the Power booted 4 goals to 1 to take a 26 point lead into the last change, 11.8 to 7.6.
The last quarter saw the Power slow down but great defending by Tim Cooper and Cody Keenes and a great goal from a set shot from outside fifty by Kade Rowe saw the Power home by 12 points, 12.9.81 to 10.9.69

The Reserves went down in a thriller by 2 points to Henty in a low scoring affair.
Both defences were on top with Finn Reeves, Nic Nagle and Marc Playford all playing great roles as they restricted Henty to 2.2 by half time and with Brad Lewis kicking the Power only two goals the Power lead by 3 points at half time. Two quick goals to Henty in the third quarter proved the difference as they took a 5 point lead into the last change. Joel Willett, James Webb and Ryan Rhodes were giving their all and when Ryan Mills kicked a goal the Power only trailed by a point. But the Power couldn’t score in the last 5 minutes as they went down 4.7 to 4.5. The depth of the team was tested with the unavailability in the Seniors and thanks to some thirds players for filling in.

The Under 17’s went down by 33 points in their clash with Henty. Jesse O’Donoghue, Josh Tidd and Tom Webb were playing well for the Power and matt McDonald and David Garcia were giving their all but Henty started to get on top and they were able to run out winners 9.10 to 5.1.

A good solid performance of football was on display by both sides against last year’s Under 14 premier’s Henty last Saturday.
We started slow but soon picked up the pace and played some really great team football. Moving the ball around the ground, tackling, talking and defending were all highlights from the game. A nail bitting finish with the boy being defeated by only 2 points.
Well done to all the boys on their fantastic effort and endeavour every player contributed to our team’s result. Bailey Minogue played his best game of the year leading around the ground and was well supported by Jayden & Tom Collier, Matty Bush, Jake Coates and Paddy Lavis.
