CDHBU Power had a good day against old Coreen league rivals the Billabong Crows winning all 4 football games at Coreen on Saturday.
The Seniors were again without recruit Luke Cowan as they took the field against a determined Crows outfit looking for a much improved performance for last weekend. The game saw both sides going in hard before a Brad Talbot goal got the Power on the board. The contest continued to be hard with Tim Cooper playing a brilliant game at full back and Alex Wallis providing a target at half forward and when Madden Lohse goaled just before quarter time it enable the Power to take a 2.3 to 0.2 lead at the break. The second quarter saw the Power put their stamp on the game with Nathan Rhodes and Josh Lewis winning plenty of ball in the middle of the ground and with Cooper well on top the Power were able to kick 5 goals in the first 15 minutes to take a commanding 40 point lead before the Crows finally got on the scoreboard as the Power to half time leading 7.4 to 1.9.
The Power took their foot off the pedal and started to over use the ball and the Crows fought back kicking 4 goals in 10 minutes to be only 11 points down. Aaron Ray was having a good game on his wing steadied the situation for the Power kicking a good running goal. This sparked the Power and with Jeremy Stevenson starting find plenty of the ball the Power was able to take the lead back out to 30 point by the last change leading 12.9 to 7.9. Lewis sealed the win at the 10 minuted mark of the last quarter with a good goal to put the Power 35 points up. The Power seemed to stop then as the Crows kicked the last 3 goals to finish off the game as the Power ran out 14.9 to 11.12 winners.

The Reserve had their first win of the season with an 84 point victory over the Crows. The Power started well to lead by 22 points at quarter time. But thye let the Crows back in at the start of the second quarter as the Crows got within 10 points before the Power ran away with the contest. Damien Talbot was the star kicking 5 goals in a dominate display. He was well support by Wes Amor at centre half back, Tom Moloney and Nic Nagle gave plenty of drive in the mid field and Nathan Allan was his consistent self as the Power won 17.9 to 5.3.

The Thirds made it 2 from 2 with a 48 point victory. The Power was on top from the start and increased their lead at each change. It was an even team performance with Matt Baker, Luke McKaskill, James Webb and Jake Boyle all playing well. David Garcia showed plenty of promise and Jordan Lavis was dangerous in his first hit out for the season as the Power won 9.9 to 2.3.

The Fourths had a good 56 point victory over the Crows. The Power backman were on top holding the Crows scoreless. The Power had good performer in Deklean Yates, Bailey Minogue, Cam Wilson, Jimmy Hanrahan and Jesse O’Donoghue. Cam Dutton and Matt Walker were dangerous up forward while Angus McFarlane showed plenty of promise as the Power won 8.8 to nil.

Netball
A Grade registered their first win with a hard fought 6 goal win over the Crows. It was slow start in the first quarter and the girls were force to dig deep going into half time. With Alica Leahy and Julie Lavis lifting the girls, the team stepped up a gear with a more direct avenue to the shooters and with the defenders getting on top more opportunity to score came about as the girls won 56 to 50.

B grade put in a great team effort to take out their first win of the season by 8 goals. All the girls contributed well with defensive pressure all the way day the court and with Tess O’Donoghue on fire and Brianna Hanrahan playing well the Power was able to run out 48 to 40 winners.

C Grade had a tough game up against a strong opponent going down by 16 goals. The girls created some great plays and consistent ball movement but were unable to convert their hard work into a win. Rachel Hanrahan and Tegan Nolan were the best for the Power.

C Reserve had a dominant 61 goal victory over the Crows. The girls came out strongly and gave themselves every opportunity to get away to a clear win. They gelled well as a team and with Belle Kuschert and Emily Bush playing well have set themselves up for an exciting season ahead as they won 65 to 4.

The 14 and Under girls went down by 9 goals in their game. Jayden Renner and Chelsea Boyer played well for the Power as the girls played a good open and fluent game of netball. The girls placed good defensive pressure across the court but went down 15 to 24.

The 12 and Under girls lost by 20 goals in their contest. It was a first game of competitive netball for some of the girls and the girls improved throughout the game. Jade Lane and Ella Harvey played well for the Power as the girls went down 25 to 5.

The 10 and Unders had two games with plenty of girls willing to play. Coach Lisa Talbot saw plenty of positives in the up and coming girls in the first game while in the second game the girls played extremely well as the game finished in a draw..
