Netball
A grade Power started brilliantly against Henty taking a 3 goal lead into the first break. Power's patient play and defensive pressure forced Henty to fight back in the 2nd quarter. Brooke Schilg was brilliant in wing defence, making it difficult for her opponent to receive a pass. Hayley Kushcert was everywhere, taking loads of intercepts. Bec Barber and Karina Collins worked well together to control the attack end. Power kept within 10 goals of Henty for 3 quarters but the more experienced Henty picked up the pace in the last quarter to win by 22 goals, 26 to 48.
B grade continued their great form from last week. Power took control in the first quarter, opening up a 6 goal break over Henty and maintained that lead for the game. Henty were unable to break Powers defensive pressure. Sharni O'Donoghue, Lou Clohessy and Tess O'Donoghue were awesome in the mid court, causing Henty to turn the ball over. Lauren Harders worked tirelessly in attack providing plenty of options in the goal circle. Tam Lavis was solid in defence, and Henty found it hard to get the ball past her. Power won by 5 goals, 31 to 26 and now B grade have won their last 4 games. Both A and B grade are improving each week and it great to see all the hard work at training is making its way on court.
C Grade lost their first game for the season going down by 3 goals to Henty. Georgina Ross was a tower of strength for the Power in defence and Jordan Bryon played a great game in centre court but it wasn’t enough as Power went down 25 to 28. The Intermediates continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 36 goal victory against the Swampies. The Girls were on top from the start and with Tess Wilson and Hannah McDonald having a great game in goals and Taylor Dickinson put in a tight game in defence. The diversity of the team is evident with many positional changes with Tess being swung into the centre court and Sophie Hanrahan brilliant at both ends. Power ran away with a 52 to 16 victory.
The Juniors girls team has performed solidly in recent weeks and were able to keep the momentum going to record another solid victory, 49 to 5 against Henty. The team was well lead by Sarah Chandler in centre and defence, Amelia Walton defended strongly with Emma Wilson’s versatility at either end of the court a highlight.
