Again it was the junior sides of CDHBU that produced the wins on the weekend against Culcairn with the Mods and Junior netball sides and the Under 14 footballer’s having wins at Coreen.
The Mods started the day off with a good 14 to 2 victory against Culcairn. After taking a while to settle in, the whole team played awesome. The girls are improving every week, and this week Elly Brewster in defence and Grace Martin in centre court were the stars for the Power.
The Juniors had a big win against Culcairn winning 54 to 3. The girls played a great game across the whole court with winners everywhere with Sarah Chandler & Taylor Dickinson in centre court named the best two players.
The Intermediates suffered a close loss going down by 5 goals to Culcairn 20 to 25. It was very close all day with only 1 goal separating the sides at ¾ time. It was only in the last quarter were the girls fell a little short. Tess Wilson again played well, and was well supported by defenders Jordon Bryon and Evie Barbour.
C Grade suffered a big loss to Culcairn going down 9 to 68. It was a good team effort by the girls who came up against a very good Culcairn side. Sally McLean was the Powers best and was well supported by Kristy Tickle and Sherie Collins.
B Grade went down 30 to 56 against Culcairn. The girls were very competitive again throughout the game with only Culcairn pulling way at the end of the game. Sam Danswan in goals was the Power’s best. She was well supported by sisters Cindy Charlton in defence and Julie Lavis in attack.
A Grade experienced an 18 to 58 loss against Culcairn. The girls tried throughout the game with Karina Collins always dangerous in defence, youngsters Karlin Walker in goals and Megan Leahy in centre court giving there all. A Grade mentor Lou Clohessy what goes around comes around.
The Under 14’s footballers continued on their unbeaten run with a 60 point victory against Culcairn. The boys were quick out of the blocks kicking 3.5 in the first quarter while holding Culcairn scoreless. Ryan Mills was in everything along with Damien Wilson. The boys continued to grow the lead while the defence lead by Brad Macartney held firm holding Culcairn scoreless for the game. Jake Boyle played well, while youngsters Peter Whyte and Peter Collins were dangerous.
The Under 17’s lost their third game for the season going down to Culcairn by 21 points. It was an even first quarter but Culcairn were able to edge ahead by 5 point at quarter time. It was tight again in the second quarter with Jordan Ray playing well down back but Culcairn was able to extend the lead to 11 points at half time. Culcairn were able to get out to a 22 point lead at ¾ time to have the game won, Kane Barbour, Kade Wilson and Hayden Filliponi held firm in the last quarter as Culcairn ran out winners 7.8 to 4.5. Alex Lohse and Corey Smith with 3 goals were also good players for the Power.
The Reserves put up a very good effort against the undefeated top of the ladder Culcairn. The first quarter saw great pressure by the Power as they held Culcairn to 1.5. Culcairn were able to find the goals in the second quarter but a Charlie Cay goal enable the Power to register a goal as Culcairn lead by 37 points at half time. Ian Bock and Paul Phibbs held firm in the second half and along with Luke Melville were able to hold Culcairn to 3 goals for the third quarter. Owen Smith and Denis Tomlinson gave their all and the Power was able to register 2 goals in the last quarter as Culcairn ran out 13.9 to 3.3 winners
The Seniors suffered a 130 point loss to Culcairn on the weekend. The boys started well, with great pressure over the whole ground and with Jarrod Hanrahan winner plenty of ball held Culcairn in the first quarter to only trail by 16 points at quarter time. The boys continued to take it right up to Culcairn in the second quarter with Brayden Kingston taking plenty of marks and Jordan Wilson providing run from defence were only 3 goals down a few minutes before half time before 2 late goals by Culcairn saw them lead 9.6 to 4.2 at half time. Culcairn got on top after the long break adding 10 goals for the quarter despite the good play of brothers Aaron and Jordan Ray. The last quarter was much of the same as Culcairn added another 7 goals to the Power one to run out 26.12 to 6.2 winners. Joel Willett played well onball and Tom Norman & Darren Damaso played well in defence.
This week sees the Power take on Rand Walbundrie Tigers at Walbundrie.
