CDHBU Power made the trip to Holbrook last week and only came away with wins in the Junior Netball & Under 14 Football.
The Under 14 Footballer’s started the day well against perennial powerhouse Holbr0ok. Jim Johnson played his best game for the club in the ruck to give his players first use of the ball with forwards Jacob Bainbridge with 6 goals, Jack Wynne 3 goals, Joe Brewster 3 goals & Madden Lohse 3 goals all capitalising as the Power ran out big 124 point winners 19.11 125 to 0.1.1.
The Under 17’s tried hard against a much bigger side. Luke Murphy was good in defence, while Corey Smith, Hayden Filliponi & Kane Barbour battled away in the midfield. But Holbrook was took good running out winners 17.14.116 to 1.3.9
An undermanned reserves side took the field against Holbrook. Denis Tomlinson in his first game for the season was superb at Full Back, while Luke Melville tried hard in the ruck. Chris Healey was again good at Centre Half back while Leigh Hayes was lively up forward. But Holbrook was just too good as they run out 15.20.110 to 4.7.31 victors.
In the seniors the boys were slow out of the blocks as Holbrook kicked the first 3 goals before goals to Clint Renner & Joel Willett got the side back into the game at quarter time to trail 4.5 to 2.2. The second quarter saw Holbrook to run away with the game as they added 5 straight goals to the Power 3 points to lead by 42 points at half time. The back line battled hard after the break with Tom Norman playing a great game at full back, and he was well supported by fellow backline players in Sean Hanrahan, Jordan Wilson and Darren Damaso. Jarrod Hanrahan & Richie Leahy were also getting plenty on ball in the midfield while Corey Healey was lively on his wing. But the Power was having plenty of trouble putting in the ball through the big sticks as they added 1.6 in the third quarter to the Brooker’s 3 goals straight. The last quarter was a forgettable affair as Holbrook could only add 4 points to their score and the Power the one solitary behind as Holbrook ran out 51 point winners 12.9.81 to 3.12.30. It was a much better effort from the Power this week, it just was bad goal kicking in the middle two quarters that hurt the Power as they added 1goal 9 to Holbrooks’ 8 goals straight.
The Junior Netballers also got the Netballers off to a good start with a close 16 to 13 win with Claire Wilson the best player. After a forfeit last week the Intermediates got on the court but went down 19 to 30 against the Holbrook side. C grade couldn’t back up their performance from last week beaten 21 to 42. B Grade also lost going down 38 to 62 with Meagan Hanrahan and Erin Lavis the better players. While in A Grade, Megan Leahy & Bronwyn Collins couldn’t stop Holbrook registering a win as the Power went down 35 to 56.
Please Note this week’s game against Billabong Crows has been transfer to Urana.
