The Coreen Daysdale Hopefield Buraja United Football Club have been active on the recruiting front this off season and have managed to secure the prized signature of Jeremy Stevenson.
Stevenson, 27, a tough inside midfielder, has played the last two seasons with Barooga in the Murray League where he has kicked 21 and 25 goals respectively as well as regularly being listed among the clubs best players. Stevenson has also had a stint with Mulwala and is a premiership player for Strathmore in the Essendon and District Football League.
Power officials have been impressed by Stevenson’s attitude and professionalism toward his football, Stevenson has been in training for several weeks, and his desire to help lift the club into the Hume league finals.
Stevenson knocked back offers from other district clubs to join the power and will add to a midfield bursting with talents such as Joel Rippingale, Michael Kreun, Aaron Ray, Tom Moloney and new signing Sean Curtis.
Curtis, another inside midfielder, has crossed over from Rutherglen where he was assistant coach to Gil Ould last season. Curtis has stood out on the training track for his new club with his leadership and commitment.
Other signings to have joined the club include Assistant coach Sam Burdon and Corey Smith among several other young recruits which have the club excited. Matt Robinson has recommitted to the club, as has best and fairest Andrew Ollington, and both are looking very fit at this early stage.
The signing of Stevenson is due reward for a tireless effort from the CDHBU football department, led by Paul Rippingale. Power officials are especially pleased that a vast majority of the 2012 list have recommitted to the club and coach Bradley Talbot.
