Plenty of OFC player names were mentioned, as the awards were handed out at the
YVMDFL Presentation night on Monday September 7th, but surely the highlight
was a runaway victory to our magnificent 1st 18 captain Scott Tregoning, who
won the best player medal for the 2nd year in a row.
Scott polled 33 votes to win, 2nd place well behind on 19 and OFC first year
player Dylan Troutman making the top 10 on 15 votes.
In the Reserves where there was another runaway winner, we had 4 players in
the top 10 - Simon Leone, Andy Greenall, Adam Borg and Tim Wall, proving
that this team lacks nothing if not experience. Well done to the old guard
who between them have been a cornerstone in enabling success in what is
otherwise a youthful team.
Our U18 side also dominated proceedings, with Owen Raszkiewicz 3rd on 20
votes (behind joint winners on 22) and Blake Walter, Callum Eade and Luke
Van Lierop all in the top 10.
In Netball, Kelli Riddiford managed a 5th with 17 votes in Netball B Grade and
in A Grade, we had girls regularly voting, but outside the top 10.
Trophies also went to our Leading goal kickers Blake Walter in the Under 18s
and Andy Greenall in the 1sts, Andy with 109 (in home and home season) and
Blake just short of 100 combining U18s and 1st 18.
Pat Rosier won the U 18 medal for the 2009 Interleague best player of the
carnival.
Scott Tregoning was picked on a ½ back flank in the league Team of the
Year.
The club overall was 5th in the league in the most team points from wins in
all grades; and Erin Williams (who we like to take ownership of) was 4th for
Powelltown in Netball A Grade.
Congratulations to all our teams and to all our players, coaches and
supporters.
Whatever happens this week, I could not be more proud of our
club and our members than I was last night.
