The Lismore Swans have ended there season with total confusion to the true result of the Grand Final. The ball returned to the middle, ruckman Jason Bevan kicked the ball which was followed by the siren and dribbled through for a goal untouched. However the confusion started when Byron celebrated there win before the ball completed its journey. The umpire in control consulted with the goal umpire and then awarded the goal to Lismore. This decision was then overturned by a second umpire. The end result is being investigated to determine the true winner and to clarify the rules of the game.
The Swans commenced the match playing against a very strong breeze and produced a tremendous first term to hold the Magpies to just two goals while kicking three of there own and putting there opponents under huge physical pressure while running the ball into space.
The Swans continued there form in the second quarter as they ran all over the Magpies to extend the margin to 28 points.
The Swans started the third quarted in good form to extend there lead to 35 points however after a Swans 50 metre penalty was reversed due to a questionable decision the game started to change. The Magpies had a few decisions go there way and capatilised with a strong breeze as they reduced the margin to 7 points at the final break.
The final quarter started in great fashion however the Magpies were threatening up forward and hit the front with seconds remaining. Ox's clearing kick out of the middle just before the siren could make him the Swans hero. If the decision is made that it is a goal then the Swans will win the game by 1 point.
