The Tweed Coast Tiger's have continued to defy the odds by progressing to the Summerland League Preliminary Final in their first year as a club with a 94 point win over Ballina Bombers on Saturday in Lismore.
In hot conditions the two teams meet for the first time in a final and it was the Tigers leading at half time 8.10 to 3.1 Both teams showed good efforts with Ballina kicking the first goal however the Tiger's combinatons are starting to work and the fitness is improving.
The quality of the Tiger's onballers including Captain, PK, Johnno, Jai and BK provided quick ball to the big forwards Roundy, Jules which produced many of Tiger's scoring shots. Matty and Gav also kicked some great on the run goals to add to the Tiger's scoreboard.
As has consistently been the case this season the backline has proven too much for the opposition with Arty, Pepe and Trent all playing outstanding football.
But it was the second half that the Tiger's prooved to much for the Bombers kicking 12 goals to 3 for the half and to book a place at the Summerland League Preliminary Final next Saturday.
Goal Kicker's Jules 6, Gav 3, Matty, 4, Round 3, Captain 1, BK 1, Jacob 1, Johnno 1.
Best on Ground Pepe, with honors to Jules and Roundy.
Thanks to Ballina boys and especially their President who gave the Tiger's a great thank you and good luck message after the game. The Tiger's and Bombers matches have been played hard but in good spirits and we look forward to playing them next season.
Big Thanks to all the coaching and support staff and the injured Tiger's who turn up each week whilst on their road to recovery, great effort lads.
And especially the TIGER'S SUPPORTERS who are growing in numbers and are a fantastic support for the team.
