The Blues have returned victorious from the toughest "Tour Of Duty" in the BDAFL, knocking off the undefeated Panthers at Hylton Moore Oval. Following on from an energetic week on the track, the Blues carried some great momentum into the first quarter. With many key players out through injury, the 22 that took the field had to rise to the challenge. The physical intensity was evident from the first bounce, and some straight kicking capitalised on early opportunities to see the Blues up by 2 goals at quarter time. From then on, City maintained a buffer for the remainder of the match to run out 26 point winners. Martin Dinneen followed up an 11-goal bag last week with 5 crucial majors. One strength of the day was the variety of avenues to goal. Recently returned Courtney Knight chipped in with 2 goals, with Terry "TOK" O'Kane, Ian "the Fijian" Baker and Jayson Cleaver each bagging 2 as well. The match was a very physical contest, with a few scuffles throughout, but City maintained their discipline. Tackling, chasing and aggression at the contested ball was the best it has been all season. The back 6 continued great form, with special mention to John Burns, who was a Rock Of Gibraltar on the last line of defence. A great team effort, which will make coach Scott Harrington's job difficult in the lead-up to the finals, with many players set to return to the side in coming weeks. The task ahead of the players now is to maintain this momentum into September
