The North Ballarat Rebels take on the inform Gold Coast team at 12 noon this Sunday at Eureka Stadium. It will be the Rebels 1st hit out on Eureka Stadium since its redevelopment.
The Gold Coast (GC17) team coached by AFL legend Guy McKenna will be the new AFL team in 2011 are in terrific form and are coming off a 92pt win last week which will make them confident coming into the game against the inconsistent Rebels.
The Rebels need to respond after last week’s disappointing defeat and have worked hard over the week to ensure better 4 quarter effort.
The Rebels will be introducing 3 debutants into this week’s team which makes a total of 45 players which have had the opportunity to play in the TAC Cup so far this year. Pat Barber (Pimpinio), Bill Barry (Ballarat & Clarendon College) and 16yr old Nicholas O’Brien (Carngham Linton) will make their Debuts.
Nick O’Brien is the 1st 16yr old to make his debut for the Rebels in 2009 after playing well in the recent NAB AFL U16 National Championships. In recent year’s players who have also debut as 16yr olds include current Rebel players Andrew Hooper, Jandre Slabbert, Lucas Cook, Ben Peters and current AFL listed players Shaun Grigg and Matt Austin.
