Springwood travel to Peak Oval to face the Blues who will not only want to reverse their narrow Round 4 loss to the Pumas, but to use their home ground advantage to hand the season's wooden spoon to Springwood.
While both teams have posted one win to date, Springwood lead on percentages having scored more points but having the worst defensive record in the competition. Neither side has been able to compete consistently against the PHC competition and realistically will find it difficult to get another win let alone climb the ladder to challenge Burleigh who currently sit on 12 points. So Saturday's match will be the 'Grand Final' for the Pumas and Blues for 2009.
Another poor start by the Pumas last weekend saw them go down by 10 goals against ladder leaders PBC. This was also the half time margin after PBC poured on a 7 goal lead at quarter time and topped it up with another 3 by half time. The second half arm-wrestle in muddy conditions saw neither side make further in-roads on the scoreboard.
The Pumas will be without the injured Regan Vick, otherwise the team will likely remain as per last week.
The chances of the Pumas this weekend will rest on their ability to get a good start and to ensure they simply hang in there for a last quarter result.
The Under 18's will meet Coorparoo on Sunday at 2.00 pm (at Coorparoo) and will be looking forward to a dry track after their loss to Tweed/Coolangatta and 1 point win over Burleigh in wet conditions in the past fortnight.
