Last week we travelled across town last week to Tant and once again our Junior colts were our were our shining light.
The Junior Colts started well in the windy conditions. A few different players took it upon themselves to step up, with Fergus Slape playing his best game for the year and was named as best. Tom Schulz and John Thorpe played their ususal solid games. Other contributors were Cody Davis, Fish Waring and Saxon Long. Incentives: KAOS Video - Fergus Slape, John Cavanagh - Tom Schulz, Peter Walters - John Thorpe, Gary Nilsson - Cody Davis, HFC Ladies - Sam Waring and Sport & Rec Steak - Saxon Long
The Senior Colts put up a great effort last week, showing great enthusiasm and tenacity. A committed first up effort saw us leading at quarter time and the boys were battling well. The second quarter was again hard fought and then after half time, we begun to ran out of legs. This shows the importance of hard work and continued efforts, which are needed at training. In all, a game upon where the boys can hold their heads up as the result was nothing like anyone other than ourselves would have expected. Let's hope we can see a similar attitude again today. Incentives: Seebohms - Michael Ogilvie, John Cavanagh - Stephen Ogilvie, Gary Nilsson – Tom Brennan, HFC Ladies - Kieren Agnew, Sport & Rec Steak - Jack McDonald
The Reserves called up a few of the older brigade with Tim Leopold donning the boots and Spag playing for the first time in 100 years, some things don’t change as he bagged 2 goals and featured in the best. Luke Haines continues to have a stellar season. To be kept scoreless in 2 quarters of football does not win games. Incentives: K & S Ampol - Luke Haines, Dave’s Panel & Paint - Saxon Ellis, Beachport Hotel - Craig Skeer and Grand Hotel - Michael Gibson.
The Seniors continue to struggle with injuries to key players and this reflects in the results we are achieving on the ground. We held a slim lead at ½ time but could only boot 5 goals in the last ½ where Tant kicked 12. Sneathy continues to show his class. “Frank’s boys” played well as did the “old boys” Fatz and Bowie. Incentives: Somerset - Brett Sneath, Beachport Hotel - Darren Paul, Millicent Golf - Sean Brennan and Bompas - Nick Ellis
Calcutta: 1st B Sneath, 2nd draw - D Paul and S Brennan
