Eastern Ranges have had another unfortunate loss to the season, after travelling to Gippsland to be defeated by 41-points on the weekend.
After a shaky first half, Gippsland Power came roaring out in the second half to boot nine goals compared to their measly four at half time.
The Ranges had a good start to the match, taking the lead early with a one goal lead at the end of the first term.
There was still momentum running throughout the Ranges squad - despite missing players due to the NAB Championships - but they proved to be a competitive side until the main break, trailing by seven points.
Unfortunately the break at half-time wasn’t enough to rejuvenate the Ranges, who ran out of legs and thrust later into the second half.
Plenty of opportunities arose for the Ranges throughout the second half; however they just weren’t able to convert on the day, only managing to score eight out of 19 set shots at goal.
However it wasn’t only the Ranges who struggled with goal kicking today; with Gippsland missing almost half of their set shots.
Ranges Coach, Shane Watson wasn’t too vocal after the match, and said that a lot of things still needed improving amongst his squad.
“It was definitely a football lesson today, there were plenty of opportunities there for us to take advantage of, but we let it slip after half time,” he said.
“Next week we have a game back at our home ground in Box Hill, so the boys will be playing on familiar grass and should put up a strong fight against the Stingrays,” Watson said.
Joshua Dyson was a standout for the Ranges today collecting 30 possessions for the Ranges, closely followed by teammate Luke McDonald with 16 possessions.
Ayden Kennedy and Dyson were the Range’s major goal scorers for the day, booting through two each.
The loss pushes the Ranges down one more position to seventh on the ladder, while Gippsland moves up to fifth place.
Next week (round 11) the Ranges are back at home to take on the Dandenong Stingrays, who they had a strong win over earlier in the season.
