The Bloods travelled up the Warby Highway to take on The Eagles on a magnificent winters day.
NETBALL
A GRADE
What a good game the A team put in again this week, and it was really dissapointing to not come away with the win after leading all game. The attack in particular was fantastic, the ball was moved fast and on target, Brooke in her first A game as WA combined perfectly with Sam & Bec in centre court. Lucy in GA was brilliant and together with Nat are becoming a tight unit.
The defenders again won lots of the ball, took lots of rebounds, and brought the ball strongly out of defence, Cassie particulary putting in an excellent game. We went into the last quarter being up by 4, but with the added pressure Yarra Junction put on in the last quarter we moved away from our own style of game. Instead of taking the time to work the ball it all became abit rushed which resulted in too many wayward passes which Yarra Junction took full advantage of.
The game we now play is nothing like the start of the season, all we need to do is maintain concenration and a steady head when the game gets into a pressure situation.
Fantastic game all round, and this team are going to do very well going into the second round of the season.
Due to a late start we were not fully prepared and our warm up was cut shot.
In typical Yarra Junction fashion, it was a tough and physical match . Although we lost the score being 48- 19 did not indicate the closeness between both teams. Once again a consitent effort by all the areas within the court but unfortunately their goalers were to accurate.
Next weeks match finds us travelling to Seville, they too are a strong team and it will be once again a tough match.
U18S
RESERVES
The Reserve side really flexed it’s muscles this week by handing out a 120 point thrashing of Yarra Junction. A terrific feat considering the fact that they had won as many games as us (5) leading up to Saturday.
The defence lead by Shannon Fitzgerald & Tim Wall ran the ball forward with great dash whilst the mid field of Mick Scott, Gavin Nautili, Russell Sloan, Andy Evans & James O’Reilly dominated play there. Also most pleasing was the excellent display in the ruck by Christian Skudutis who often gave us first use of the ball.
Needless to say the experienced forward line of Adam Borg & perennials Andy Greenall & Tim Scott took full advantage of the opportunities created by kicking the sweep!
With players having to train regularly in order to maintain their place in the side we can expect even more improvements in the second half of the season.
SENIORS
Seniors had
a good hit out against Yarra Junction.
We talked about
just getting a win and anything around the 20 point mark would be great.
The guys come
out hard and fired early, a couple of goals up at quarter time gave us a little
breathing space and with Steve Gannell in the ruck along with Bazza dominating
and quality onballers like Tregoning, Rosier, Stevens and Troutman to move the
footy from end to end, we were looking great. Broomhall and Noorda were getting
plenty of the footy and our forwards worked hard all day. Multiple goal scorers
again with Noorda, Stevens, Irvin and O'Neill keeping the scoreboard busy and a
rock solid defence who were really put under a fair bit of pressure, this made
Junctions day hard.
Great team
effort for a 100 point win.
