You dont have to ask Alex Swenson whether he prefers to play footy on the Sunny Coast or his home town of Ballarat. Alex remembers playing in the under 12's at the Ballarat Swans when the crunching under his feet as he ran out to play most weeks was the frost/ice snapping under his weight!
When mum decided to relocate North with Alex and his older brother, Alex wasnt too upset to put on a Tigers jumper with new mates Jarryd Bates, Garry Wallace and Zac Smith and enjoy a bit of warmth and footy success. And success it was too with flags virtually every year from U14's through to U18's as Alex played on a wing with runs in the midfield of this very strong group to move through the grades
After juniors he had a taste of Senior footy before finding his niche in the two's and his highlight since juniors was the 2006 Reserves Grand Final even though the boys kicked 1.9 to 1.0 with the wind in the first quarter against the Western Magpies to effectively lose the match (they eventually lost by 5 goals)
Alex is now 23 years old and has only 6 months to run on an electricians apprenticeship and just loves having a kick in the winter as well as playing indoor cricket in the off season.
Alex reckons he will keep player for Noosa as long as he can and just loves having a kick too much to see a future without AFL and mixing with his mates.
Great footy clubs have loyal blokes like Alex that can play and have a postive influence on the younger blokes that make the transition from junior to Senior football.
We are glad that his mum saved Alex from a future of frosty/icy grounds and brought him to our club where he is a loyal servant and a good bloke who just loves the game.
