It isnt unusual to hear that a young man has moved to Noosa for the great lifestyle and beautiful weather, but Scott 'Mad Dog' Maddern came with his partner Nicole and added to Tigerland by having Nicole's young bloke Mason playing in the Under 8's as well as her brother Willie join us as Reserves runner - and he scrubs up pretty well as a trampy chick too (Man O Man not a secret lifestyle - the lawyers told me to say that).
Mad Dog (his dad had the nickname too - Mad-dern/Mad Dog get it) had played all his life at South Warnambool and was quite happy but having struck up a good friendship with the Duke twins when they had a kick at the Club and stayed in touch with them after, it appealed to him to one day spend winters with a smile on his face not with blue hands on a Saturday.
Mad Dog led his under 18 team as Captain to a flag at the Roosters and he added a Ressies flag in 2006. At 25 the big fella is yet to enjoy a senior flag and hopefully he can do so at Tigerland at some stage.
In 2007 Mad Dog headed down the road to Russell's Creek to help out a mate who took on the coaching job there and in 2008 it was off to the Sunny Coast and Noosa where he has teamed up with Sam McCosh as a plasterer (unofficially M&M Plastering) while Nicole heads down the road to Accom Noosa.
Scott also enjoyed hoops as a young fella and also had a bit of a run with Jack's Div 1 team at Noosa indoor but he is smart enough to know that crunching onto the boards affects his footy and work so it was stick to the oval ball.
Mad Dog has enjoyed some great moments/games this year and what we all love about him is his passion, direction and love of the game and his mates.
Scott has brought an under 8 player and a runner to Noosa but more importantly he has brought himself - a unique, positive attacking defender who adds to the culture of our club and the fabric of our senior team.
