A fortnight ago we hosted Port Mac, it was great to see a past coach in “Zeitzy” running for the Seniors. Thankyou to the Port Mac supporters who stayed for presentations in the club after the game – this is what Mid SE footy is all about!
The Juniors Colts came up against a bigger and stronger side in Port Mac, but played well in the first quarter to hold the opposition scoreless. after the break they continued to scrap it out but went down without scoring a goal, which was disappointing after scoring two the week before against the top team. Best players were James Barclay who continues to show his team mates how to put there body over the ball. John Thorpe, Sam Telfer, Cody Davis and Dylan Montouri continue to play consistent footy and new player Tyler Snook is also making his present felt. Incentive Awards: Duckys Surf: James Barclay, Pete Walters: Sam Telfer, Gary Nilsson: John Thorpe, John Cavanagh: Tyler Snook, HFC Ladies Committee: Dylan Montuori and Sport & Rec Steak Award: Cody Davis
A disappointing effort from the Senior Colts against Port Mac. In previous weeks I have been proud of our efforts in battling games out until the end and applying pressure for four quarters. This was lacking last week and Port Mac showed us how damaging a lack of commitment can be. Hopefully with the bye this week, we can regather ourselves, work on a few things and produce a better effort against Kalangadoo. Incentive Awards: Seebohm Sports Store: B Aardenburg, Garry Nilsson: S Ogilvie, KAOS Video: C Slape, John Cavanagh: K Agnew, HFC Ladies: J Simons, Sport & Rec Steak award: T Waring
The Reserves came away with another big win. Shawn Uotila bagged 7 and in his second game for the club Jez played well. Incentive Awards: Beaurepaires: Shaun Uotila, Millicent 4WD Systems: Jeremy O’Neil, Dave's Panel & Paint: Matt Nettle, Beachport Hotel: Ryan Walker, Grand Hotel Meal voucher: Corey Patton
The Seniors returned to the winners list against the Bays, Jase Batemans 3 goals in the last ¼ were timely. The Hoff and Mat Faulks kicked 4 goals a piece. Sneathy continued his form from last week and Renny, Bowie and Fatz played like we know they can. Tony Egan Menswear: B Sneath, Somerset Hotel: S Brennan, Beachport Hotel: D Paul and Bompas Meal Voucher: J Rehn
We require helpers for the Interleague game on the canteen and in other areas around the club on the day – if you can help out (even an hour) please see Sara Gray and/or Kinga or Loretta Breeding.
Radio rentals are continuing there sponsorship of Mid SE and the race is on once again for the Plasma, so don’t forget to mention Hatherleigh when purchasing from them.
This week I would like to mention our volunteers and the 100’s of unpaid hours that they put into the club each year. So thankyou to the unsung heroes!
A reminder that your 100’s club money is due.
This week we welcome our Sponsors to Hatherleigh and thank them for their continued support.
It will be tough against K’doo in all grades today – good luck to all teams.
