The 3rds ventured down the highway, then another highway, and then still another highway on our way to Old Westbourne. Yes, it's true, people live out this way!!! Sure, say what you want, I'm an Eastie.
Thursday night we picked 26. CD predicted this would soon turn into 19 but lo and behold we started the game with 24, which soon became 25 as Friarzee decided that this week he would do something novel and turn up 10 minutes AFTER the game had started not 10 minutes BEFORE as in previous weeks.
So, the time had come to give the bottom side a kickin'. The new blokes shone (and we had plenty of them). "Pappa" Di Manno showed all the attributes of the Lurky Forward we've been looking for, Ryan (K.B.) Bartlett looks a ready made footballer in his first game of AFL and Jarrod Ward stood up at CHF after I tried him out on the ball. Frenchy gave us plenty at CHB and Mark Lucas will hold down a key defensive role when needed.
Ginger Ninja Sedgwick continued to rack up posessions and prove that he is a Friars star in the making. The Virus had another outstanding game in defence, mopping up everything that came his way and showing that a 2's call up is imminent.
Jimmy 'The Hit Man' Hart only needs to learn how to kick and he is a one's ( definitely 2's ) player with plenty of potential.
All those blokes aside, Sean Brosolo was clearly best on ground, the big question is, will he turn up this week? We all hope so.
We are on a roll now (one in a row) and ready for the challenge of Werribee this Saturday.
By the way, whilst not a Richmond supporter, I am seriously toying with the idea of naming this week’s forward line as:
Wilson Hart Mitchell
Bartlett Roche Taylor
That would put the fear of God into the opposition!
Go Friars.
Cheers, CD
