In a full four-quarter performance, Simon Sutterby's Eagles controlled the game from midway through the first quarter all the way to the final siren.
Missing key forward Nathan Saunders, the Roosters played a mobile forward line, with Dale Carson being left one out in the goal square.
The extra space aided Dale Carson as the Roosters kicked the first two goals of the game.
The Eagles slowly worked themselves into the game with Chris Moreland, Damian Harrington and Matthew McVilly all having an influence through the middle.
Only six points down in the second quarter, the Roosters started to gain control of the match.
However, the dominance was not reflected on the scoreboard and the Roosters kicked just three goals in their 15-minute purple patch.
Further scares were sent through the Newtown camp when star midfielder Ben Kilday came off limping minutes after being on the end of a crushing Rhys Burke tackle.
Newtown coach Simon Sutterby said the injury was not serious.
"He got a heavy knock to his hip and came off," Sutterby said.
"There will be no worries for him, he will be right."
The Eagles then took the ball forward three times in the last 10 minutes, kicking the final three goals of the half to take a 14-point lead into the main break.
Starting the third quarter like it finished the second, the Eagles piled on eight goals to one to snatch control of the match.
"That was easily our best performance for the season. The third quarter was also our best quarter for the year," Sutterby said. "We are starting to get players back and getting back to full fitness, so that also helps.
"I thought we were great around the contest today and that showed."
From then on it was smooth sailing with the Eagles kicking the first goal of the last quarter to steal the victory.
The Eagles now have a week off before playing South Barwon, St Mary's and Bell Park.
"We have three hard games coming up now. It is going to be a very testing time for us," Sutterby said.
"I think we will need to play four quarters of football. If we can do that we will challenge any team."
