I don't think the club has packed so many events into such a short space of time before, a doughnut drive, golf day and trivia night! The Krispy Kreme Day was a great success not only from the sales but also from the extra supporters on the day who came to collect their goodies. We would really like to thank Marina Feutrill for all her work in making the event such a great success.
The Golf Day was not only a great fund raiser for the club, but also for the venue with Bluey McKeown arriving in inappropriate attire and having to pony up for a fetching pair of Navy Shorts. The Prez made the same error, but fortunately had plenty of extra clothing already in the golf bag. The golf was great on a very tough new course, there is supposed to be water on 16 of the holes. Fortunately for our sake we are in a drought and a number balls that should have been wet were able to be retrieved. Overall we had a great afternoon and missed out on the downpour. The other winners on the day were Simon McAuliffe and his team of bandits! Many thanks to Paul Hogg and his company Paradigm Logistics for the putting on the event.
Then Saturday Night was Trivia Night! With approximately 200 people in attendance it was a great social event along with the added bonus of fund raising. Of particular highlight was the chap who was able to provide the actual names of all of the seven stranded castaways from Gilligan's Island (who said that all the TV information was useless?) Thanks go to the Parish of St Philips who provided the venue and extra special thanks to Margot Gallacher and her team who not only arranged and organised the event, they brought the idea to the committee and ran with it.
Each of these events helped us raise funds to maintain our commitments to the association. It cannot stop there though, the cost of putting 5 teams on the field each week is significant. We continue to look to recruit new sponsors and members throughout the season and for support of our further events and functions throughout the season.
