After a well earned win at our new home in Warrnambool there was a good feeling about the group on Tuesday night with training being held out at the Ballarat Uni. It was a light night on the track with the coaches managing the week nicely. Thursday night come around and there were eight spots up for grabs because of the Victorian Country boys not playing because of there duties. With the spots up for grabs training intensity was good and the feeling around the group was positive.
Well done to the two new debutantes Chris Harry and Lachie Edwards getting there first shot at TAC cup football. It was also great to have Chris Giampolo and Jake Garvey back into the team after coming back from injury. With Shaun Lyle, Kurt Aylett, Jake Dunne and Tom McDonald the team was finalised. The team headed up to Box Hill to take on the highly skilled Eastern Rangers.
The feeling was good in the rooms before the game with all the boys knowing there was everything to play for. We came out firing having all of the possession and capitalizing in front of goal. Giampolo had a great return to TAC football carrying out his form from last year. Quarter time arrived, and Wilks was happy with us but reminded us only a quarter of the job was done. Second quarter against the wind and we played very well keeping the Rangers nearly scoreless. Josh Free playing very well around the ground and Dylan Parish taking everything that come his way we went into half time well up.
Most things looking impressive at half time we were reminded by the coaches to keep working hard and do the little things. Third quarter was a lot harder with eastern Rangers working harder around the ground. In the last quarter Eastern got a few goals back on us but the boys kept working hard and come up with around a 10 goal win. After the game Wilks was happy with our performance with everyone playing their role. Next week we take on a quality side in the Northern Nights at the eastern oval on Saturday. Well done to the Vic country boys on their efforts this weekend.
