The Western Jets have suffered another heavy defeat this time at the hands of Gippsland Power at Burbank oval by 66 points.
The Jets needed to build on their performance from the previous match against Murray and started well when Chris Aloi kicked the first goal of the match. Unfortunately thatâs about where it ended for the Jets with Gippsland kicking the next 5 of the first quarter and next 8 for the match.
At quarter time the margin was 25 points.
It got out to 42 points in the second quarter before Jesse McLellan in his first TAC Cup game kicked the Jets second. Yet it didnât stop Gippsland as they marched to a 48 point half time lead, with a 4 goal contribution from small forward Mannon Johnston.
The second half was a little more competitive with Sean Tighe playing well in the ruck and Josh Huxtable doing his best down back to stem the flow of Gippsland goals. While the Jets were performing better the margin was still extended by 3 quarter time to 56 points.
It was a similar story in the last with Gippsland kicking 4 goals to the Jets 3 and running out 66 point winners. Daniel Willcocks was good in his first TAC Cup game and Daniel Schibeci also made a good contribution.
The Jets take on Sandringham Dragons in their next match on Sunday at Trevor Barker Oval at 11:10am as a curtain raiser to the Sandringham V Geelong VFL game.
