Under 10's (Gold) Match Report
Now 5 games in the U 10 Golds have started season with flying colours and are all enjoying their footy each and every week.
The previous Player of the Match Awards have gone to Jessie Foxall with a great opening performance, particularly in Defence in the opening roaund against Rooty Hill, Oliver Masters in a sensational debut against a powerful Penrith Swans team, Billy Graves, our goal sneak with an inspiring 3 goal effort against Blue Mountains and Shamous McDonagh with a typical strong, hard running effort against the Emu Maroons. Well done boys.
Last round saw the team travel to Quakers Hill on a very windy day and play the QH Red's. The team focussed, listened to Coach Zeaona and got down to business.
The opening goal came within seconds from the opening centre bounce after some excellent lead up work from the midfield. This set the tone for the day as the team mastered the conditions and impressed with their first to the ball attitude and great TEAMWORK.
Well done to Blake Kenny who was awarded Player of the Match, like his team mates he never stopped running, encouraging others and "never gave up!"
Under 12's (Black) Match Report by Glen Stevens
This week the Lions played the St.Clair Crows in the long awaited clash between the two undefeated teams in the comp. On a sunny but blustery day and the Crows having the home ground advantage, the game promised to be a tough test for the young Lions team.
The first quarter was a battle between the two defences. The Lions appeared to have the greater amount of possession but were unable to convert their opportunities. The two teams went into the quarter time break tied up without having troubled the scoreboard attendant.
The second quarter saw the Crows come out looking more confident, and after both teams scored behinds they were able to get the first goal of the match. This seemed to get the Lions going again, and within minutes they were able to score a goal of their own through Mitch Andrews who was playing a fantastic game. At half time the scores were locked at 1.1.7 .
The second half of the game played out much the same as the first, with neither team allowing the other to take control of the game. A lovely long goal from Jake Stevens in the third quarter gave the Lions a slender lead at three quarter time, and a delightful snap from Joel Walsh in the last quarter sealed the game for the Lions. The Lions defence stood tall all day, with the much improved Brody Swarbrick continuing on his good form from last week, Grant Shipley playing his best game of the season and Bryden Filce playing a solid game at centre half back.
Final Scores: Lions 3.6.24 def. Crows 2.5.17
This was a great team effort and a hard, well earned win by the Lions in a game that was played in good spirit by both sides.

The Lions travelled to Cook Park this week to take on the St Clair Crows. It was a very windy day which made things difficult for both teams. The Lions started well but could only manage five behinds for the quarter with Ben Foxall active in the forward line and he was well supported by Stephen Webb, Markus McDonagh and Jake Jeffreys-Brown. Goals were hard to find in the windy conditions in the first half with the Lions scoring 2 and the Crows hanging in with 1 goal and the game was anyoneÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂs at half time.
The third quarter was the opportunity for the Lions to improve their effort on the scoreboard. Ben Foxall played most of the game in the forward line and made the most of his opportunities with numerous possessions for the day and one goal in the third quarter. Stephen Webb spent the day at full forward and was another to take his opportunities and finished the day with 2 goals. Hugh Arnold played another solid game and when moved into the forward line in the last quarter kicked a great goal on the run. Julian Borg played an outstanding defensive game at full back and filled an important role for the team this week.
Adrian Boelhouwer was involved in everything today and took a spectacular mark on the far side of the ground. Pat Pope was consistent all day as usual and repelled the Crows attack numerous times. Jeremy Rix returned to form this week spending some time at centre half forward and finished with 2 goals for the day. Beau Dingemans was moved into the midfield this week and played an outstanding game including a goal in the last quarter. Blake Langer played a great game on the wing this week helping to push the Lions into attack.
The Lions got better as the game went on and all the hard work done at training started to pay off with the Lions moving the ball swiftly up the ground and into the forward line and they finished with a very solid last quarter kicking 5 goals to seal the win.

Under 16's Match Report
The Lions took on St Clair at Cook Park on Saturday in a game they were expected to win following their victory the previous week over the undefeated Hawkesbury Eagles. In what turned out to be a close encounter, the Lions wer disadvantaged by a controversial send-off when their ruckman was banished for questioning a decision. Although possibly a 50 metre offence at worst, the Lions were forced to play a man short for the final quarter which probably dictated the result of the game.
The goal scorers were Jackson Swarbrick, Dylan Slater, Nicholas Adams, Michael Kerr while Rick Ooms kicked three goals, all in the second quarter. With no scorers in the final quarter, the game went to the Crows in a loss that will probably hurt our final series, if we want to get that far! The score was 8 .13 - 61 to 7.11-53. Thanks again go to the parents who put in every week; Tim, Paul, Glen, John, Bob and this week Tom.
