Tigers Under 18's Enjoy Early Start & a Big Win
The Tigers hit the ground running, banging on 7 goals to 1 in the first quarter. With Young in the guts the team structure was restored. Buntain, after a slow start to the season, dominated his wing accumulating possessions and taking some towering marks while the return to form of Tickner was great to see with his hard tackling and fierce attack on the ball. New Pomona recruit Maxfield continued his stellar season with the Tigers amassing quality possessions at will while a 5 goal haul to Tiger's Forden was a welcome reward for his determined efforts.
The team's turnaround in performance compared to the previous week was amazing considering the early start and 2 hour road trip to Redlands, the players definitely showed what they are capable of. By games end Shunta was extremely pleased with his troops, in particular the team's leaders in Young, Tickner and Gavin, but it was the courageous efforts of Captain Gavin which earned Shunta's highest praise -where in a defining moment coming off half back he attacked the ball and contest with such ferocity that he caused a turn over and set up a goal which seemed to inspire his team mates to greater deeds.
