Aspley
Hornets U 12 Brown Vs Calamvale Leopards â 03 May 09
The
boys travelled down to Calamvale to take on the Leopards, and in the words of
Coach Reevesie, what a great team effort. It was a great tussle, with the
Leopards putting up a great fight to make it an entertaining game.
Our
backline were rock solid in the first quarter and held the Leopards to three
points with good pressure, team work and most of all talk. When they did clear
it to our forward line it resulted in two goals, with our forward line
responding in kind to the great work by the backs.
The
next quarter saw another excellent effort by all the boys, which resulted in
another 2 goals early on. The Leopards to their credit took the fight back up
to the boys late in 2nd quarter and applied a lot of pressure in the
third quarter, and closed within one goal by three quarter time.
Reevesie
asked the boys to give there all in the last quarter, and stick to what they
have been practising since the beginning of the season. To their credit, the
whole team hit the field in the last quarter and played as a unit, resulting in
a great win against a side that held a height advantage over the boys and kept
coming at them. All the hard work paid off today, and it is great to see how
all the boys are working for each other and playing as a team, in every aspect
of the game.
It
was hard to pick only 4 good players on a day like this, and Reevesie summed it
up perfectly when acknowledging all 21 players who pulled on a jumper today.
Each player was addressed individually by the Coach, as all of them had made a
contribution.
However
the awards handed out went to Lachlan Braunlein, (great goal in the last
quarter to seal the game), Andrew Parkinson (the terrier who never says die) JJ
(the rock at the back) & Paddy (a great skippers game). Final score was
Aspley 6 â 6 - 42 to Calamvale 4 - 6 âÂÂ
30.
Goal
kickers: Kelley 3, Jordan 2, Lachlan B. 1.
Thanks
to Jared Kent and Kade Perkins for filling in for the day.
Next
week sees us home against Alexandra Hills. Another challenge
for this team, who are enjoying their football. There is a great team spirit
amongst the boys which is growing stronger and stronger each week. Full credit
to the Coaching Team, Managers and parents. Keep it up boys.
