SENIORS FINAL SCORE â VERMONT 20-28-148 def WANTIRNA SOUTH 18-13-121
A perfect day sunny with no breeze. 2 changes with McInerney and Bordin in for Rogneda and Daniher. New recruit from Sale Shane Fyfe played his first game in the reserves and had 25 touches. If we thought it was going to be an easy day at the office we were mistaken. WS played terrific footy and scored many easy goals. Froud looked on fire with 5 possessions in the first 3 minutes of the match. Froud kicked the first 2 goals and after a good start McLure went off with a hamstring. Shortly after Stephen went off with a lower back injury do our bench was down to two very early in the match. Mullett and Bardon were starring and Rushton came from the backline to kick a beauty on the run. At ¼ time we led 6-7 to 2-3 and looked to be cruising.
Both teams kicked 6 goals in the 2nd term and at one stage WS kicked 3 in a row. Cotchett was lively around the packs. Greig kicked 3 goals for the quarter as we led by 32 points at ½ time. Up until the break Greig had taken 8 marks while Cotchett led the possessions with 15 followed by Mullett and Bardon with 13.
We kicked 6 goals to 5 in the 3rd quarter with WS again kicking 3 unanswered goals. Ross and Millhouse were playing well and Greig kicked his 7th while Cotchett kicked his second. At ¾ time we led 18-20 to 13-11.
In the last quarter we kicked 2-8 while WS kicked 5-1 which included the last 4. Rushton repeated his first term deed with another exciting goal from defence. McInerney made a fine debut and picked up the pace of senior footy with ease amassing 27 possessions. Mendes also played well. A not so convincing win by 27 points.
Goalkickers â Greig 7, Froud 3, Cotchett 2, Mullett 2, Rushton 2 and singles to Ross, Bardon, McLure and Millhouse.

Mullett took 13 marks, Froud and Millhouse 11 and Greig 10.
Coachâs Comments â We were lucky to get the 4 points the way we played. We have to be more efficient with the ball to be a serious contender. We had many flat patches in the 2nd half as we ran out of steam. For over 3 quarters we had only 1 man on the bench.

Dressing kicked his 3rd but WS kicked 3 of the first 4 goals of the term. Fyfe, Illott and Stewart were good in defence. By half time Fyfe had 13 possessions and Tsindos 15 but needs to be cleaner with his disposal. At half time we led 7-8 to 5-5.
Caneva kicked his 2nd and Dressing his 4th. Luke Davis was red carded and took the weeks suspension. Tsindos continued to gather touches as Wantirna Sth drew closer â they kick the last 2 goals and we led at the final change by 4 points.
They kicked 6 goals to 3 in the last quarter including 5 goals in a row. Fyfe played a lesser role after half time although he finished with 25 possessions. A demoralising defeat by 14 points.
Goalkickers â Dressing 4, Caneva and Tsindos 2 and singles to Kater, Shambrook, Rosewarne, Ryan, Bright and Handley.
Coachâs Best Players â Stewart, Dressing, Tsindos, Fyfe, Caneva and Rogneda.
John McCarthy took stats on some of the players â possessions â Tsindos 34, Fyfe 25, Stewart 17 and Illott 16.
Coachâs Comments â Our ball usage and decision making was terrible. This is a reality check for us. We kicked wide and lacked desire â we made them look good. We got the umpires off side with our chat that resulted in 20 free kicks to 2 after ¼ time.
