The Tweed Coast Tigers took to the field for the first time and although they went down to Lismore there was plenty of positive signs for the emerging team.
With some big hits from both sides the Tigers tenacity and persistent attacking of the ball, matched the Swans youth, speed and skill until the 3rd term when Lismore outscored the Tigers 5 goals to 1, into the wind.
In front of a large vocal home crowd the Tigers rebounded to outscore Lismore in the final term by 5 goals to 2, but the damage had been done.
Best performances for the Tigers from, Trent, Earle, Jai and Pauly with goals to Julian (4), Jimmy (2), Earle (2) Arty (1), Trent (1), Jacob (1), Jai (1)
The honor of first ever goal to the Tigers going to Julian early in the first qrtr.
Tigers suffered several injuries at crucial times with Star forward Big Sim pulling a hammy in early in the match and quality defender Finzy suffering a knee injury half way through the second qtr.
Great effort for the Club's first day out with President Col Richards saying "Not a bad start for the year, a game that had pretty much everything in it for us and the spectators, all positives, things will improve quickly from here."
Thanks to the Tigers Committee, Team Support Staff, and Volunteers for a great day!
