The Lismore Swans travelled to Pottsville to take on the unknown of the Tweed Coast Tigers, at no stage were the Swans going to take this match lightly as we were unsure of the strenth of the Tigers and the Tigers didn't disappoint in a very competitive match.
The Swans kicked with the wind in the first quarter as both sides exchanged goal for goal. A few opportunities went begging as Lismore went into the first break with a 5 point lead.
Against the breeze in the second and the Tigers hit the front momenterily before the Swans picked up there game with some great passages of play to runaway to a 21 point lead with 5 minutes to go. 2 quick goals by the Tiges before half time brought the game back to a 9 point ball game at the main break. 8.7-55 to 7.4-46.
The third quarter is the premiership quarter and the Swans answered to the coaches request by lifting the intensity with some big hits providing some great entertainment especially Alex's ripper of bump. The Swans tool advantage of the breeze and ran away to a 35 point lead at the final break.
The final quarter the boys held on against a persisting Tweed side. However a number of excellent passages of play by the Swans was once again the difference. In the end the Swans winning the match by 19 points to record there first win of the season. The Swans 15.16-106 defeating the Tweed Coast Tigers 13.9-87.
Goal kickers were shared around with 2 each to David Woon, Jeremy Lamberton, Daniel Bruce, Jarrod Kelly, Jason Bevan, while Josh Mapstone, Daniel Moloney, Brendan Shailers, Angus Legoe and Wesley Seewald kicked singles.
