In Round 2, Port Melbourne travel to Casey Fields in a match under lights on Saturday evening, against the Casey Scorpions.
Both teams come off contrasting Round 1 matches with the Borough having a convincing home 78-point win over North Ballarat, while the Scorpions had a 103-point loss to Sandringham.
It was suggested earlier in the season by one commentator that the VFL ladder may replicate that of the AFL ladder in regards to the VFL-AFL aligned teams and their on-field success.
Casey will need all guns firing in all areas to successfully challenge Port Melbourne and their tall forward line and solid ruck stocks. Melbourne draftees Addam Maric, Liam Jurrah and Shane Valenti will look to make positive contributions in this match in order to gain a spot in Melbourneâs senior side.
Port Melbourne will look to the continued good form of duo Sam Dwyer and Nathan Batsanis in the midfield along with their main scoring options in DeLuca and Adrian Bonnadio.
