The Western Jets have opened up their 2009 TAC Cup campaign with a 23 point win against NSW/ACT at Burbank oval.
The Jets started slowly and the Rams who were kicking with the breeze opened up an early lead. It was lucky not to have been more than a 14 point deficit at the first change as the NSW side kicked 3.6 to the Jets 1.4
The second quarter saw Western start to produce a bit more run and carry but unfortunately mistakes were still occurring to frequently. With Fitzpatrick and Halloran playing well up forward and Conway getting plenty of the ball the Jets were able to hit the lead at the main break by 4 points.
The second half saw the Jets continue to increase their lead over NSW although they could never quite deliver a final knockout blow. In the end it was a 23 point victory to the home side and 4 points safely in their grasp.
