Life Membership GFNC - 2005
A Gormandale girl Leonie began her Netball career at the club playing in the under 16 team in 1976, and after going up to the Seniors in 1979 she played in her first Premiership team. In 1982 Leonie played in the Clubs A Grade Premiership team and also won the A Grade B&F that year. Another A Grade B&F followed in 1984 after being runner up B&F in 1983. Off the court in that period Leonie was Netball Club President in 1984 & 1985 and Vice President in 1981 & 1982. After the 1985 season Leonie took a break from Netball to have her family but returned to the club in the mid 90’s being C Grade runner up B&F in 1995 and in 1997 was a player in the clubs C Grade team that were runners up. She coached the clubs Under 13 team in 1996 before moving to D Grade where she won B&F awards in 1999, 2001, & 2002. Leonie played through to 2005 when she received a Life Membership to reward a significant playing and off court career with the club.
