Panton Hill Football club again showed its class and why it's an integral part of the local community when we held our Sportsman's night last Friday the 13th. As MC and event organizer Gavin Ward pointed out in his opening address the landscape of the local community had changed since the tragic events of the Black Saturday bushfires. While the event date had been set 6 months earlier, the bushfires sound relief concert had seen the NAB Cup, Basketball and NRL all clashing with our event but in true Panton Hill Spirit over 150 people turned up making for a fantastic night.
President Scott Walker spoke of the clubs junior development program as the club aims to make its mark on the NFL and Former President and Life member Tony Cahir spoke of the Clubs contribution towards the Bush Fires appeal and the outstanding efforts of our very own Patron and State MP Danielle Green (who was in attendance) as a member of the Diamond Creek CFA.
The Large Crowd was entertained by inspiring Speakers in Tony Shaw and David Schwarz with Greg Champion having the crowd in fits of Laughter with his amazing songs / Diddies about all things sport including some very humorous renditions of Australia's national anthem. Panton Hill's very own and Gold 104 Presenter Craig Huggins helped with the auctions as some fantastic goods and items went under the Hammer. A BIG thank you to our very generous sponsors and supporters who in hard economical times still managed to supply some wonderful goods and services.
All in all a great night was had by all, both socially and financially and while final figures are still to be finalized the club will as promised make sizeable donations to the Local CFA's
