Whilst the Auskickers enjoyed their first morning of fun and games, the Under 10's took to the field against a committed Rooty Hill Power who were a bit short on numbers. However, coach Zeoana gave the opponents some of the better Lions to ensure an even match. And what an entertaining match it was with the scores see-sawing throughout the game. It came down to the final few minutes before the Lions staged a "come from behind" win. The young Lions played as a team with rookies Jordan Ware, Billy Graves and Bailey and Jesse Foxall all scoring majors in their first game whilst "veteran" James Rix booted one (which dad saw).
At Tom Hunter Park, the younger 10's recorded a good victory against Blue Mountains with coach Scott extremely happy with their skills and sportsmanship.
The Under 12's in Pool B were very competitive against the Kangaroos but the visitors held a few too many guns in recording a victory.
The Under 12's in Pool B however wer most impressive in the following match when they turned the tables on the Roos. With many new players in the squad, it was a great effort to run away with the game by forty five points. Brayden Saint-Barry was outstanding in his 50th club game and has certainly added extra dimensions to his game. Debutante Tiarne Kerr was also impressive kicking a goal in her first AFL match and causing headaches for the opposition with her evasive skills.
Emu Plains / Glenmore Park Lions 8.4-59 def Blue Mountains Kangaroos 2.2-14
The Under 14's kicked off the afternoon and gave the crowd a game of football reminiscent of a Swans-West Coast Grand Final when they played Hawkesbury. In a seesawing match, the Lions with the help of some Under 12's snatched a last minute victory by the barest of margins. This weeks most impressive players included Morgan, Adrian, Pat, Chris, Jeremy and Blake.
