A beautiful warm autumn day saw the Penrith Swans up against the might of the Camden Blues in a pre-season trial match last Saturday.
The matches allowed coaches & players to blow away the summer cobwebs. Opportunity arose for positive elements as well as those areas where improvement is needed. All matches were played in good spirit with many talking points up at the clubhouse after the game with a softie in hand.
In an unfortunate incident, an Under 16 Razorback player suffered a season-ending injury to his arm & shoulder. Our thoughts & best wishes go out to Ryan Storey and family. We wish Ryan a speedy recovery and hope that we see him playing footy & umpiring soon.
On a more pleasant note, the day also saw an official launch of our season with David Bradbury Federal Member for Lindsay lowering our Swans Club Flag. The launch also provided an opportunity for David to present the Penrith Swans with a NSW Sports Grant for $2359.69
The grant was submitted late last year by our Vice President Administation, Kim Mayer. The submission included funds required to purchase a laptop computer, bbq for Oval #2 and a number of Level One coaching courses for new team coaches. This cheque sure takes a huge weight off our Club's cash flow. Many thanks to David and the NSW Sports & Recreation Department.
