MOOD BOYANT IN BENDIGO JUNIORS
The Bendigo Junior Football League is ready
and firing for the start of season 2009. Recent rumblings of discontent have
been squashed after proactive Board and Club discussions resulting in
redirection and refining of the Leagues Board, Administration and Communication
procedures.
A new and exciting mood has evolved led by
the current BJFL Board Members. Long serving League Secretary, John Hewitt said
“a reduced number of Board members and Central Vic Footy assuming many
administration tasks will allow the board to provide greater direction for
Junior Football within the region and realise our commitment of providing
opportunities for our youth to play this great game”
A longer competitive season will result
from clubs agreeing to an honest approach to grading teams evenly, without the
need for weeks of grading games. “We believe the players are the ones to really
benefit from increased participation, now it is up to the clubs to do the right
thing and we will see a fantastic even competition” John Hewitt said.
Clubs will also have precious local
resources freed up with the abolishment of the Delegate system to be replaced
by periodical Presidents and Secretaries meetings. The Board with assistance
from Central Vic Footy, VCFL & AFL VIC will undertake strategic planning
sessions and look at further implementing transparent reporting and
communication procedures with all stakeholders.

President said “These are exciting times for junior football in the region,
what we are looking for now is a dynamic individual to lead our Board through

Individual BJFL Clubs were invited to
respond following the circulation of a discussion paper and subsequent meeting.
Overwhelmingly their direction was to reduce the Boards numbers and move
administration duties to CVF. Also the majority of responses applauded the
Boards direction and confirmed their support.
