Kananda Cup Cricket Sees Crusaders Do it Easy
In one of the most one sided Kananda Cup deciders in recent history,it was Crossys Crusaders lead by fill in skipper yours truly who successfully regained the Kananda Cup for the first time in three years.
Set only 83 runs to win in searing heat, the Crusaders were able to knock off the target losing only 2 wickets and with 7 overs to spare. Gun opener Ryan Sawers again showed his value in Kananda Cup fixtures with a fantastic 64 not out which included 8 sixes and 4 boundaries. Sawers was easily adjudged man of the match and clearly celebrated with his victorious teammates long into the night.
Great to see Hahny back and playing a starring role as one of the Crusaders originals, same could not be said for several of Maloneys Mavericks who just didn`t put their hand up when their team needed them. A big thanks to Peter Jeffreys who once again did a sterling job in the middle as umpire and to all those who braved the hottest Kananda Cup day in history and gave their support.
On The Track
Great numbers on the track last Thursday night as many new faces start their time at the Matrix Noosa Tigers for season 2009.
Frankston Bombers Jay Reynolds and Ben Drake certainly took the vigourous training in their stride whilst another Bomber with more experience, Brek Colling has put his hand up for a run with the local boys in 2009.
On the not so positive side, the Tigers have lost the extremely fit Nathan Winter as he heads South to play with Lorne in the Colac and District league.Wints will join good mate and Ex Tiger gun forward Ryan Evans at Lorne for 2009.The club wishes Wints all the best and look forward to seeing him back in Tiger colours soon.
Netball "Kicking Off" Soon
Speaking of the Winter name, all those Tigerettes interested in playing netball again this season should call our netball coordinator Fiona Winter on 0438 138667 or catch her down at the club tonight. 2009 sees` the Noosa Tigers field 3 senior teams in Monday night fixtures which is a fantastic thing in only our 2nd year of competition.Go girls!
Good numbers also for Shane Hunts opening night of Under 18 training last Wednesday so at this early stage, all looks promising with the Senior grades at Tigerland with even more top flight recruits on their way from WA.
See you down at training.
Cheers
Pittsy
