Chayse Tilley is 19 years old but when you talk to him he seems older. I guess though if you had 6 step brothers and sisters considerably older than you, it would provide plenty of role models and mentors along lifes highways - not to mention a truck load of presents each birthday for their little brother.
Although waterways would be more appropriate than highways for Chayse who now works for U Drive Boat Hire and has his Coxswains Licence so he can teach people how to ride Jet Ski's and lead up to 5 of them on a tour of local sites.
While he also patches hulls with a bit of fibre glassing, for those of us with stress levels in the high double figures, it's great to see this terrific young bloke down "on the job" in his uniform of boardies, polo shirt and bare feet cruising through his day ensuring local tourists have a good day. If only he didnt have to work on weekends!
Chayse has come through the footy club with team mates such as Matt Somers, James Leach, Nick Hoekstra, Justin Claney and Will Troedel and whilst many mates of his other mates have given up playing for big nights out and the surf, Chayse loves his footy and the boys and atmosphere at the club and plans to be playing for many years to come.
Not to say that he doesnt love getting out his long board and hitting the waves, or heading out with his mates after a match, but he is smart enough to know that on the beautiful Sunny Coast you can have a balance of work, footy and play all in your own beautiful back yard.
Travel takes Chayse to Rosebud (Victoria) each year for a visit to 5 of his sibblings and his 7 nieces and nephews, and he also went with 15 mates to Vanuatu on a cruise last year and they hope to head to Bali at the end of this year.
In 2009 Chayse was at preseason training from the beginning and his recent form on a half back flank in the two's has been outstanding as he anticipates plays and immediatly launches counter offensives from our back half. Had he not pre-arranged a trip to Victoria recently he may well have already had an opportunity with the Seniors. I am sure when he gets his chance he will give his team mates and coach his very best.
There are many terrific young men at Noosa, and they all have different personalities. Chayse is a terrific young bloke with a friendly manner, who takes an interest in others and deals with people with a mature sincere approach without fuss or fanfare.
We all wish him well with his footy and hope that Chayse finds that apprenticeship so he can free up his weekends and public holidays and evolves into a long term Senior player and a leader at the Club
