Zac Smith started playing footy as a 6 year old in an under 7's comp in Brisbane and when his folks moved to the Sunny Coast in 1997 he joined the Tigers Under 12's and now 12 years later at 23 years old he will run out and play his 50th Senior match in the Tigers jumper.
Zac's junior years at the club were a bit of a "Flag Fest" as he enjoyed the spoils in U12's, U14's, U16's & U18's but it is a Senior flag that Zac says will be the real highlight of his football journey.
Having played his first Senior match in 2006, his 50th game this week would have occurred last year if not for a cracked rib keeping him out of the game for a long stretch in 2007, however all at Tigerland hope this young man who cruises the mid field and cuts up the opposition with his judgement and skills remains injury free and is on deck to help our 2009 campaign.
A carpenter by trade Zac is doing some form work down Beerwah way at the moment working on a range of projects such as bridges and train stations, with Dobbo also on the team. He played a bit of cricket as a kid and likes to wet a line from time to time and probably the only fault we can find is that he is a Richmond Tigers supporter (which is at least better than being a Collingwood fan)
Everyone at the club congratulates Zac on his 50th and we all hope that we get to enjoy watching this classy quiet achiever play for many years to come and that he achieves that ultimate thrill of a Senior Premiership real soon.
